Ramazan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. This is the month of fasting. This month is full of blessings. According to Islam, anyone who will perform one good deed in the month of Ramdhan will be rewarded with an Oblation of 70 good deeds.

The month of Ramadan consists of 3 parts. Hence each of these parts consists of ten days and each part is called ashra. Ashra is an Arabic word that means ten. The whole month of Ramazan is full of blessings but each of these three ashras has its own importance.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, “Ramadan is the month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness, and whose end is freedom from fire.”

Three Ashra of Ramadan :

So according to this saying month of Ramadan consists of three parts. Firstly the first part which consists of the first ten days of the month is the first Ashra. It reflects the mercy of Allah Almighty. Similarly, the second part which consists of the middle ten days of the month is the second Ashra. It represents the forgiveness of Allah Almighty. While third part which consists of the last ten days of the month is the third ashra. It represents safety from the fire of hell. In the last Ashra Muslims perform Iʿtikaf (اعتكاف‎‎) and Laylat al-Qadr (لیلة القدر ) is also on odd nights of the last Ashra.

All Muslims around the globe should seek the mercy of Almighty Allah in the first Ashra of Ramadan. While in the second Ashra Muslims should seek forgiveness of their known and unknown sins from Almighty Allah. In the last and third Ashra all Muslims should seek protection from the fire of hell. Ramazan is the best opportunity for Muslims to seek mercy, forgiveness, and protection from the fire of hell. We should recite the first ashra dua (pehle ashray ki dua or pehlay ashray ki dua ) in the first ten days of Ramadan.
